Operation Bling
Operation Bling - NJ My Way (njmonthly.com) (njmonthly.com)A year ago, Chris Ferdinand of Morris Township figured out that her mission was not just selling jewelry, but giving it away.
Chris and her husband own Ferdinand Jewelers in New Providence. (www.ferdinandjewelers.com) Through the shop, they get to know customers, but when one of their best clients—a woman named Barbara—stopped coming by, they became concerned. Turned out she was battling ovarian cancer. And when they visited Barbara in the hospital she said “I miss my bling.”
Chris ordered up some sterling rings with cubic zirconia stones—the hospital was not the place for real bling—and brought them to Barbara’s bedside. The woman’s face lit up, and Chris’s idea was soon realized.
Operation Bling (www.operationblingfoundation.org) delivers sparkling and fun jewelry, for free, to hospitalized cancer patients. Now affiliated with four area health care providers (Morristown Memorial, Overlook Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center, and the Summit Medical Group) Operation Bling is in full swing.
“I’m very honored to be given this mission,” Chris told us. She said the idea came to her during a prayer. The website has posted a prayer list for dozens of cancer patients, and she’s enlisted local churches and synagogues to keep these names in the hearts of their membership.
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, you can stop by the shop in New Providence, and buy a bag of bling, (earrings, bracelets, Chris calls them “stylish, drippy things.”) All of the proceeds are donated to the Foundation. A fundraiser is planned for March 1st, at Il Capriccio Restaurant in Whippany.
“Such a small thing has a huge impact,” Chris says of her efforts. Operation Bling brings some sparkle—pleasure, and fun for those who may need it most.

According to the release, in November, Zirconmania introduced the Diamond-Veneer collection of CZ, which is coated with a thin-film nanocrystalline diamond-coating treatment.
Diamond-Veneer is being presented as a margin-making alternative to diamonds, which are "unaffordable and out of reach in this economy," to moissanite, which is "highly expensive and less attractive due to its color and basic appearance," and to CZ, which "looks too perfect," according to the release.
A patent is pending on the nanocrystalline diamond-coating process, which is intended to improve the optical and physical properties of CZ.
According to the release, Diamond-Veneer is created by employing a multi-step treatment process involving the application of nanocrystalline diamond particles that are less than 50 nm in size on all cut surfaces of premium-grade white Zirconite CZ. Each nanocrystalline diamond particle is said to be pure diamond, possessing all of the stone's optical and physical properties, according to the release.

Jamie Foxx has decided to ditch his traditional diamond earrings to protest the use of conflict diamonds in jewelry.
Foxx reveals, “I now wear cubic zirconia. I used to wear real diamonds, but there’s too much issue about blood diamonds.”
According to the UN ,conflict diamonds (or blood diamonds) are “diamonds that originate from areas controlled by forces or factions opposed to legitimate and internationally recognized governments, and are used to fund military action in opposition to those governments, or in contravention of the decisions of the Security Council.”

So there is a recession in the world of celebrities after all! Jamie Foxx wears CZs! He’s taken a cue from Diddy, and is cutting down on his bling. Diddy ditches his private jet flights, and Jamie now wears fake diamonds!
Jamie almost never goes out without his two humungous diamond studs in his ears. But rather than being jealous of his bling, you can thank him for being just like us.
Jamie says the reason he got rid of the real ones is because of the moral stipulations involved with real diamonds. He says, "I now wear cubic zirconia. I used to wear real diamonds, but there's too much issue about blood diamonds."
Wonder if Leonardo DiCaprio put him up to that…So although it may not exactly be because of the recession out country is in, it’s cool to see an A-lister give up his bling for a good cause. But maybe he just had to get rid of them to fund his stay in Washington this week for the inauguration. According to Fox News, Jamie shelled out $20K on a house for the week!

Diamond-Veneer makes use of patent-pending Nanocrystalline diamond coating technology
US-based jewelery company Zirconmania is set to introduce its new Diamond-Veneer collection at the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas in March.
Launched in November 2008, the Diamond-Veneer claims to be “the ultimate diamond stimulant”. It is based on the cubic zirconia, a man-made gemstone, and is manufactured using an innovative Nanocrystalline diamond coating technology.
The coating process is the subject of a pending patent, and involves the application of Nanocrystalline diamond particles (size below 50nm) uniformly on all cut surfaces of premium grade cubic zirconia. Each Nanodiamond particle is pure diamond with all its optical and physical properties.
The result of this coating process is a gem that is almost indistinguishable from the real deal. “It is virtually impossible to visually identify Diamond-Veneer as anything but a diamond,” the company said.
